Contribute to the White Coat Campaign
When physicians think back to the day they received their first white coat, they undoubtedly remember feeling a rush of emotions: pride, excitement, hope—even fear! Over 400 first-year medical students experience those same emotions in Wisconsin each year, and through the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation’s White Coat campaign, physicians and health care groups sponsor the first white coats for those students.
The 2018 White Coat campaign is underway, and you can have a role in welcoming new students to the profession of medicine while reflecting on your own days in medical school. Sponsors are needed for approximately 430 coats this year. In addition to a $75 donation for each white coat sponsored, physicians are asked to write a personal message of welcome and encouragement for the student who will receive the coat(s). Whether the note is long or short, sentimental or pithy, the messages reach students at a defining moment in their lives.
In return, students are given a pre-addressed envelope and asked to share a note of gratitude with their coat sponsor.
Sponsors who wish may request that their note(s) be given to students attending a certain school (University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health or one of the Medical College of Wisconsin campuses) or to specific students by name.
